Course Outline

Participants will complete a total of 15 units of competency covering a range of surface extraction operation skills including:

  • Workplace health and safety procedures
  • Basic first aid
  • Equipment operation (ex-excavators, loaders, dozers etc)
  • Working effectively in the mining industry
  • Surface extraction process
  • Working with others and in teams
  • Communication skills

This certificate program provides both theoretical knowledge and practical skills training. Instruction is delivered through:

Course Prerequisites 

To enrol in Certificate II in Surface Extraction Operations, applicants must:

  • Be over 18 years of age
  • Complete a language, literacy and numeracy assessment
  • Undertake a health screening
  • Hold a current driver’s license

Recognition of Prior Learning/RPL

Recognition of prior learning (RPL) leverages knowledge, skills, and attitudes collected throughout your working life, transferring those experiences to align with the training course requirements. Trainees undergoing the RPL process must be capable of demonstrating competency for the qualification.
