Medium Rigid Vehicles

Vertical Horizonz Australia Medium Rigid Vehicle course is designed to ensure trainees are competent and confident to operate and maintain medium rigid vehicles prior to attempting their MR licence through TMR. The training is suitable for those in industries such as road transport, mining and civil construction.

Definition 

  • Medium Rigid (MR)  – bus or truck (including a prime mover or a mobile crane) over 8t GVM with a maximum of 2 axles
  • Any towed trailer must not weigh more than 9 tonne GVM.
  • Also includes trucks and buses in LR licence categories.

TLILIC3003 – Drive medium rigid vehicles

Medium Rigid Vehicle course content includes:

  • Theory
  • Reversing
  • Engine management
  • Defensive driving
  • Observation techniques
  • Traffic management
  • Driving test

Requirements to obtain a MR Licence

  • Must have held a Licence for at least 12 months (1 Year).
  • Complete a theory test at a Qld Transport center -10 questions – (can practice online at www.transport.qld.gov.au).
  • Complete a QLD licence application form
  • Become competent with the vehicle (2-6 hours average/competency based).
  • Pass a practical driving test at QLD Transport usually using our vehicle.
