What is a confined space? 

As per the Code of Practice published by Safe Work Australia, a confined space refers to an enclosed space that meets below criteria: 

  • Not suitable or designed for a person to occupy
  • Possess a safety risk to a person who gets in

A person who gets into a confined space will have to deal with numerous safety risks. For example, confined spaces can lack oxygen and contain numerous airborne contaminants. They include dust, vapours, and even toxic airborne gases.

ENTRY CRITERIA
