Certificate III in Trenchless Technology Course
The Certificate III in Trenchless Technology is a unique apprenticeship, designed for individuals working within the Civil Construction Industry, utilising forms of Trenchless Technology within their work environment.
This course covers a range of industry-specific core units of competency designed to ensure trainees understand how to plan and undertake work requirements, identify and mitigate hazards and communicate within the workplace. Examples of trenchless construction methods available may include:
- Horizontal Directional Drilling
- Auger Boring
- Pipe jacking
- Microtunneling
The qualification is also suited to newcomers to the industry looking to secure a unique skill base and commence a successful career within the Trenchless Industry.
Our selection of courses includes unique options such as Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety Course, Certificate III in Drilling Operations Course, and Certificate III in Driving Operations Course, providing our students with diverse educational opportunities.
Course content

- Plan & organise work
- Carry out measurements & calculations
- Identify, locate & protect underground services
- Read & interpret plans & specifications
- Communicate in the workplace
- Maintain site records
- Apply risk management processes
- Work safely & follow WHS policies & procedures
- Enter & work in a confined space
17 Elective Units
Options:
- 12 chosen from the below electives | 1 must be an RIICTT unit*
- Up to 5 may be chosen from the below electives or similar RII units available
- Carry out manual excavation
- Support plant operations
- Spread and compact materials manually
- Carry out basic levelling
- Install trench support
- Install subsoil drainage
- Lay pipes
- Conduct impact moling, ramming and augering operations*
- Control micro tunnelling and pipe-jacking operations*
- Operate a vehicle loading crane
- Operate drilling fluids and mud pits
- Operate mud systems
- Handle resources and infrastructure materials and safely dispose of nontoxic materials
- Use hand and power tools
- Operate small plant and equipment
- Drain and dewater civil construction site
- Conduct civil construction excavator
- Conduct horizontal drilling
- Control construction site water table
